Great holiday much like the Caribbean, but closer to the UK! Lots of sand possibly some of the best beaches around!
Sal is the main Tourist Island at the moment and there is much building work going on in Santa Maria. We visited the Riu which was brilliant could not fault it. Food was of a very high standard and the bar Barracuda had some very talented musicians look out for the Mexican guy (such a talent). The island is small 30Km long so you can see it in a day. It’s sure to be an up and coming destination for the UK, only 51/2 hours away. It was 29c the whole two weeks and no rain !
For:
· Great Beach Holiday
· Total relaxation
· Great Weather
· Lovely people
Against:
· Outside the Riu you take your chances
· Water on the island is in short supply and the main hotel (Riu) gets first refusal.
· Many areas are like building sites and this has ground to a halt in places.
Boavista is the next island to be developed for Tourism and a new Riu opens November 2008
